Each banner is 23 ½" x 12" and made of Natural Canvas, professionally silk-screened and the image color is a dark reddish-brown, the canvas color is similar to that of unbleached muslin.

These fourteen banners are the result of the efforts of St. Matthew's Artist's Guild at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Alliance, Nebraska. This group of creative and talented ladies spent close to six months arriving at the final artistic product. Originally an effort to create something unique for our own parish, these locally acclaimed artists hope to share this expression of their faith with others as well.

These banners represent a unique response to The Way of the Cross. The centrality of the cross as well as the significance of women is inherent in this new artwork. And the art at each station has a story in itself. For instance, at the sixth station, where a woman wipes the face of Jesus (tradition calls her Veronica), the artist depicts the woman as having taken off her veil, revealing her unbraided hair that was hidden (and thus herself) to the Lord in giving of herself to respond to his need. It is a most powerful graphic. Truly a new and exciting perspective which invites you to participate in the . . .
